Day 5

Cusco - Rainbow Mountain - Cusco

This day begins with your VERY EARLY hotel pick-up. (Approximately 4am to 5am). We will head towards the south Valley of Cusco on a paved road to the small town of Checacupe. We then head East to to Pitumarca where we will stop for a breakfast buffet (approx 7:40 AM). We then continue to the native community of Pampachiri. This is where our vehicle will wait for us for our return to Cusco. Here you can buy small snacks or drinks for the hike.

We will then start the short hike and pass through the control point. Very soon afterwards, the locals of the area will give you the opportunity to rent their horses if you are having any altitude symptoms or do not want to walk. Our guide will be available to help you negotiate a price for this service, should you decide to choose this option.

At approximately 9am, we will start the hike which will take about 2.5 hrs to the rainbow mountain.
Here, you will have some free time to take pictures and you may also walk to the highest point which reaches 5200m (17,000ft).

Please take note of the times which your guides recommend, as it is possible that you may suffer from the altitude if you spend longer at this elevation that recommended.  After our visit to the mountain, we will return to Pampachiri, walking via the same trail. Where our transport will be waiting for us. We will then enjoy a buffet lunch at approx. 1:30 p.m.

After lunch we will return to Cusco, arriving at approx. 6:00 p.m. where our transport will leave you at your hotel.

Day 6

Cusco

Savor your final moments in the beautiful city of Cusco with a leisurely breakfast before saying farewell to this remarkable land. In the afternoon, we'll escort you to the airport for your onward journey back to Lima, concluding this unforgettable expedition through the heart of the Inca Empire
