Day 1

Cusco – Chachabamba – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Aguas Calientes

Your journey begins with an early morning transfer from your hotel in Cusco to the train station. You'll take a scenic train ride to KM 104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail.

Upon arrival at KM 104, you'll meet your guide and begin your trek. The first stop is the archaeological site of Chachabamba, where you'll explore ancient Inca ruins and learn about their significance.

The trek continues with a gradual ascent through diverse landscapes, including lush cloud forests and stunning views of the Urubamba River. After approximately 3 hours, you'll reach the breathtaking ruins of Wiñay Wayna, an impressive Inca site with terraces, temples, and water fountains.

Enjoy a packed lunch with a panoramic view of the ruins and surrounding mountains.

After lunch, continue hiking for about 1-2 hours to reach the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), the original entrance to Machu Picchu. From here, you'll get your first glimpse of the majestic Machu Picchu citadel.

After taking in the views from the Sun Gate, you'll descend to the main entrance of Machu Picchu and take a bus down to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. Overnight stay in a comfortable hotel.

Day 2

Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Wake up early to catch one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu, ensuring you experience the site with fewer tourists and in the magical morning light.

Enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel, exploring its temples, terraces, and plazas while learning about its history and significance.

After the guided tour, you'll have some free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. Hike to the Inca Bridge, the Sun Gate, or simply wander through the ancient ruins.

Take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch and some last-minute shopping or relaxation.

In the afternoon, board the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer back to your hotel in Cusco.
