We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 7:30 - 8:00 AM. The tour ends around 5:00 - 5:30 PM when we drop you back at your hotel. The entire experience lasts approximately 10 hours.
Yes! This tour is family-friendly and suitable for children of all ages. The walking is moderate and children usually love the colorful weaving demonstrations and the unique salt terraces. We recommend bringing snacks for younger children.
Lunch is served in the community of Misminay with a local family. You'll enjoy traditional Andean dishes which typically include quinoa soup, local potatoes, vegetables, and sometimes guinea pig or trout. Vegetarian options are available upon request please let us know when booking.
The walking at Maras Salt Mines is easy to moderate. The paths between the salt pools are well-maintained but can be slippery when wet. Wear comfortable shoes with good grip. There are some stairs and uneven surfaces. People with mobility issues should inform us in advance.
Absolutely! You can purchase locally harvested pink salt directly from the families who work the pools. Prices are very reasonable and it's a wonderful way to support the local community. Bring cash in Soles as card payments are not accepted.

The tour operates rain or shine. During rainy season (November-April), we recommend bringing a rain jacket or poncho. We can provide ponchos if needed. Light rain usually doesn't affect the experience, and the salt mines can be even more photogenic with dramatic clouds.
We strongly recommend spending at least 2 days in Cusco (3,400m) before taking this tour. The highest point is Chinchero at 3,762m (12,343ft). Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals, and take it easy. Our vehicles carry oxygen bottles for emergencies.
