Key points from our booking policies
This is a summary of our key terms. For complete details and full legal terms, please review our complete Terms and Conditions document.
The tour starts very early with hotel pick-up around 4:00 AM from Cusco. This early start allows us to catch the train to Aguas Calientes and maximize your time at Machu Picchu. We'll confirm exact pick-up times 24 hours before your tour.
Yes! Our one-day tour includes approximately 2 hours of guided exploration inside Machu Picchu, plus free time to explore on your own. You'll see all the main highlights including the Temple of the Sun, Main Square, and the iconic panoramic viewpoints.
The tour includes Expedition or equivalent class train tickets with PeruRail or IncaRail. Upgrades to Vistadome (panoramic windows) are available for an additional cost. The scenic 2-hour train journey along the Urubamba River is an experience in itself.
Lunch is not included in the standard package but you'll have free time in Aguas Calientes to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. We can recommend excellent options for all budgets. Vegetarian and dietary options are widely available.
Essential items: passport (original required for entry), comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, hat, rain jacket, water bottle, snacks, camera, and cash for lunch and souvenirs. See our detailed packing list section above for a complete checklist.
Machu Picchu sits at 2,430m (7,970 ft), lower than Cusco. Most travelers feel fine, but we recommend arriving in Cusco 1-2 days early to acclimatize. Stay hydrated and try coca tea. The early morning drive and descent in elevation usually helps.
Due to time constraints of a one-day tour, climbing the mountains is not recommended. These hikes require 2-3 additional hours. If you want to hike these peaks, consider our 2-day tour with an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.
You'll return to Cusco approximately between 6:00-7:00 PM, depending on train schedules and traffic. The return journey includes the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, train to Ollantaytambo, and private transport back to your Cusco hotel.
Yes! The one-day tour is suitable for most fitness levels. Children 3+ are welcome with family supervision. Seniors in good health can participate comfortably. The terrain at Machu Picchu involves stairs and uneven surfaces, so comfortable walking shoes are essential.
Cancellation policies: 15+ days before = full refund minus $30 admin fee; 7-14 days = 50% refund; less than 7 days = no refund (due to train and entry ticket purchases). See our Terms & Conditions section for complete details.
Yes, we strongly recommend booking at least 2-3 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (May-October). Machu Picchu has daily visitor limits and train tickets sell out quickly. For holidays and long weekends, book 1-2 months ahead.
